  • BOTOX® Cosmeticp-logo-botox

Millions of men and women of all skin colors and ethnicities have realized the benefits of being treated with BOTOX® Cosmetic (Botulinum Toxin Type A). You can too! When administered by an experienced physician such as Dr. Luftman, you can still smile, frown, and look surprised without those lines between your brows.

BOTOX® Cosmetic is a quick and minimally invasive procedure consisting of a few tiny injections. During treatment, very low doses of BOTOX® Cosmetic are administered via a few tiny injections directly into the muscles responsible for frown lines between the brows. By blocking the release of a chemical that causes these muscles to contract, BOTOX® Cosmetic enables them to relax.

BOTOX® Cosmetic reduces frown lines between the brows while allowing you to still smile, frown and look surprised.

    Juvéderm™p-logo-juvederm2

The appearance of wrinkles and facial folds can be smoothed by adding structure and volume underneath and bringing sunken skin back up to the surface. Juvéderm™ injectable gel is a smooth gel filler Dr. Luftman eases under your skin to instantly smooth out those wrinkles or folds that look like parentheses along the side of your nose and mouth. Results aren’t just instant, they’re so smooth and natural, everyone will notice but no one will know.

    Juvéderm Voluma™p-logo-juvederm2

Juvéderm Voluma™ is a new, FDA-approved dermal filler formulated specifically to add volume to the face around the cheeks and chin. This is the only injectable gel created to provide a subtle, natural enhancement to the mid-face, addressing changes in definition that occur over time. Juvéderm Voluma can help restore more youthful contours by plumping up the area that so often loses volume as part of the aging process. It can also return a firmer shape to the jaw line when some softening has set in.

Juvéderm Voluma is not only an effective treatment method, but it is long lasting as well. In many patients, the results will last for a period of up to 18 months.

The active ingredient in Juvéderm Voluma is hyaluronic acid (HA), which is a substance naturally produced within the skin. As we get older, the levels of HA present in the skin begin to decline, resulting in a loss of volume and sunken or sagging cheeks. Juvéderm Voluma integrates into the existing collagen and elastin in the skin tissue to offer greater support and elasticity. This can provide a noticeable smoothing and firming to the skin and lend the facial structure more substantial definition.

Juvéderm Voluma is the latest in the Juvéderm line of dermal fillers. These various formulas have a successful history of reducing the appearance of wrinkles and folds in the skin and rejuvenating the face.

    Lip Enhancement with luftmanlip™

luftmanlip2luftman lip™ is a trademarked lip enhancement technique developed by Dr. Luftman to produce natural, rejuvenated, beautiful looking lips. Her technique requires the use of two lip plumpers—a thin line filler to reshape the lip contours and a hyaluronic plumper in the body of the lips to give them a full, three-dimensional quality. The luftman lip™ looks natural, unlike the “duck” or “sausage” lips often seen after other lip enhancement procedures.

    Asclera®/Sclerotherapy

Asclera® is a prescription medication administered in injection form to treat spider and varicose veins during sclerotherapy. This substance, known as a sclerosing agent, damages the inside lining of the blood vessels and causes platelets to attach to the vessel walls over time, creating a blood clot and causing blood to divert to a healthier vein. The clotted vein will eventually dissolve and be replaced with tissue.

Spider veins, or telangiectasias, are small, thin, blood vessels visible beneath the skin. Spider veins on the legs may look like a series of lines, tree branches, or spider- or web-like in shape. It is estimated that they affect nearly half of adult women in the U.S.

Sclerotherapy treatment with Asclera takes 15-45 minutes to perform, depending on the size and severity of the affected blood vessel. For most patients, one injection is administered for each inch of the affected vessel, with multiple injections performed during each treatment session. After this procedure, patients will need to wear compression stockings or support hose to facilitate proper healing.

The standard treatments for spider veins are sclerotherapy, laser treatment or pulsed light treatment. During sclerotherapy, a special sclerosing solution is injected into the diseased vein, which then collapses and is gradually absorbed by the body. The course of treatments takes several months. By the end of the treatment program, the veins are less visible on the skin surface.

    Thermage™ Radiofrequency (RF) p-logo-thermageSkin Tightening

Using painless radiofrequency energy, Thermage™ “lifts” and tightens loose and sagging skin to restore youthful vigor to patients’ faces. The Thermage device stimulates collagen production and temporarily reduces wrinkles while keeping the skin surface cool and comfortable. There is no incision or recovery time. Results last about two years. Thermage can be used to tighten other areas of the body, including the face, eyes, lips, neck and body.

    Erbium Laser Resurfacing

Wrinkles, age spots and loose skin are a fact of life that many of us will experience at one time or another. Most of the changes attributed to aging are in fact secondary to sun damage, leading to damaged collagen fibers, the major support structure of the skin.

Over the past several years, lasers have become a very safe and effective alternative to the use of chemical peels and dermabrasion for people who request removal of wrinkles or acne scars.

Luftman Dermatology is equipped with both lasers, so Dr. Luftman can customize the resurfacing procedure depending on the depth of wrinkling or acne scarring or the degree of sun damage to the skin. We tend to mainly use the Erbium laser as there is less post-operative pinkness. Healing time is also shortened.

    Fraxel™ re:finep-logo-fraxel

Fraxel™ is a unique noninvasive laser therapy designed to dramatically improve skin texture and pigmentation, including the treatment of fine lines and wrinkles, acne scars, surgical scars, and sun damage. Fraxel™ utilizes fractional resurfacing technology, where only a small fraction of the skin receives the laser light. The treatment delivers a series of microscopic laser spots, while simultaneously preserving areas of unaffected, healthy skin. The healthy cells in the untouched spots promote rapid healing of the entire area, resulting in faster recovery time and minimal side effects. The result is softer, smoother and healthier skin without an uncomfortable healing period.

(Fraxel™ is available in our Calabasas office only.)

    Fraxel® DUAL 1550/1927

p-logo-fraxelThe Fraxel® DUAL 1550/1927 laser system provides nonablative fractional resurfacing of the face, neck, chest and hands. Using laser pulses in fractional patterns, the Fraxel DUAL 1550/1927 laser resurfaces damaged skin, making it look younger and more refreshed. It improves the appearance of wrinkles, scars and age spots through dermal laser penetration that is deeper (depths up to 1.6 mm) than that available with traditional treatments. The Fraxel laser stimulates the body’s natural skin cell and collagen regenerative responses but, because the beams it produces are so small, does not damage surrounding healthy tissue.

The Fraxel DUAL 1550/1927 laser is U.S. Food and Drug Administration-approved to treat:

    • Wrinkles around the eyes
    • Acne scars
    • Surgical scars
    • Melasma
    • Age spots/sunspots (pigmented lesions)
    • Actinic keratoses (precancerous lesions)
    • Resurface the skin

Because Fraxel DUAL 1550/1927 laser treatment is a nonsurgical alternative to more invasive surgical and resurfacing procedures, it has fewer risks and requires less recovery time.

    Levulan® Photodynamic Therapy for Sun-damaged Skinp-logo-levulan

Levulan® photodynamic therapy is a two-step process. First, the Kerastick® Topical Solution is applied to the sun damaged areas, such as the face, scalp, arms and hands. The patient stays in the office with the medication for about 30 minutes and then is treated with intense pulsed light. After the treatment, the patient is highly sensitive to light. It’s important to keep the treated skin away from bright light for two days. Following approximately two to four treatments spaced a month apart, healthy-appearing skin returns.

    BLU-U® Light for Acnep-logo-bluu

Not exclusive to teenagers, many adults have trouble with acne that is hard to control. The BLU-U® Treatment — using light without strong drugs or antibiotics — may be something for you to try.

The BLU-U is a unique blue light that can kill the P. acnes bacteria in the skin. Treatments are simple — first the Levulan® topical medication is applied for up to 30 minutes. Then the patient sits in front of the light for a short time at a schedule set up by your doctor. After some weeks, the BLU-U Light with Levulan® can control acne.

    Laser Hair Removalp-logo-lumenis

Excess and unwanted hair is a common problem. Women frequently experience this condition on the face, especially the upper lip, in the bikini area, under the arms or on the legs. Men often wish to rid themselves of hair on their back or chest.

Innovative, light-based devices have revolutionized the treatment of unwanted hair, offering gentle, effective and convenient solutions for both men and women. The LightSheer Diode Laser System by Lumenis uses targeted flashes of light to block the regrowth potential of the hair follicle. These treatments do not damage surrounding tissue and each device targets numerous hair follicles simultaneously, allowing for the treatment of large areas quickly and effectively.

With this light-based hair removal treatment, darker skin tones can be treated as well as light and gray hairs following the application of a natural melanin enhancer called Meladine™.

    Chemical Peels

Chemical peels remove damaged outer layers of skin on the face to smooth texture; reduce scarring, sun damage and uneven pigmentation; and remove blemishes to produce healthy, glowing skin. Peel formulas and strengths are tailored to each patient.

    Glycolic Peels/TCA Peels

The mildest form of chemical peels, glycolic peels gently exfoliate the surface layer of skin to expose the fresher, younger-looking skin beneath. They are ideal for roughness, dryness, sun damage, fine lines and wrinkles. Treatments take only 10-15 minutes. Results are visible immediately, although repeated treatments are recommended for best results.

TCA peels are deeper peels applied to the skin by Dr. Luftman. The skin goes through major exfoliation over five to seven days, revealing new, beautiful skin.
